Suspect Arrested In Pueblo Flower Shop Robbery

PUEBLO, Colo. - Pueblo Police responded to an armed robbery Thursday morning at a flower shop.

It happened around 10:10 a.m. at Flowerama in the 1200 block of Lake Avenue.

The suspect was wearing a mask and had a handgun. When he left the store he got into a silver-colored VW Beetle and removed his mask. The plate given for the vehicle listed to a Pueblo West address and while Investigators responded there, an officer set up at Pueblo Blvd. and Highway 50 W to watch for it.

Just before 10:30, the officer saw a VW Beetle exit Pueblo Blvd. and begin traveling east on Hwy. 50. He followed it and confirmed the plate number. When it pulled into the Shell convenience store lot at Hwy. 50 and Morris, the officer followed and arrested the driver at gunpoint. Witnesses from the original scene were taken the location and three positively identified the suspect. He is 27-year-old Delorean Speaks.

Investigators have executed a search warrant of his vehicle and located a weapon and cash they believe was taken from the shop. The weapon is a BB or pellet gun but matches the description given by witnesses at the scene.

Speaks is being booked into Pueblo County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
