SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. - Three individuals have been arrested on theft charges after the disappearance of clothing and equipment from the US Ski Team.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office says William Walker Lancaster III, Ryan Allen Lundquist and James Neal Callahan admitted to the thefts and were arrested at Copper Mountain on Friday.
The arrests came after an investigation by Copper Mountain Security and the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
The US Ski Team had noticed the items were missing at approximately 7:00 p.m. on November 10. The following afternoon, a Copper Mountain Security member questioned the trio about the missing items and subsequently located the majority of the missing items in Lancaster's apartment. Several additional items were retrieved from a dumpster. After further questioning, Lancaster and Lundquist admitted they removed the equipment from the US Ski Team conference room while Callahan stayed outside the room as a lookout.
According to the US Ski Team, all of the items reportedly stolen were new and unused. However, after they were returned, most were unusable due to damage apparently sustained when the suspects attempted to removed the logos off the gear.
All three were charged with Class 4 Felony theft, which is punishable by up to six years imprisonment and up to $500,000 fine. Lancaster and Lundquist were released on a $7,500 bond; Callahan was released on a $2,500 bond.
