Man shot after imposter lies about working for Colorado Springs Utilities to get in apartment

Man shot by Colorado Springs Utilities impersonator speaks out

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs man says he was shot during a struggle with another man who posed as a Colorado Springs Utilities employee to get in his home.

The investigation is happening in the 4500 block of Lamplighter Circle, near Astrozon Boulevard and Chelton Road.

Police say the imposter claimed he was there to check out a report of a gas leak. Once he got inside, there was a fight and at least one shot was fired.

The resident, Ricky Williams, was grazed by a bullet.

"I feel victorious. I feel victorious," Williams said. He wrestled the suspect and was able to escape before he fled. "Just be careful who you let in hour house. not everybody is who they say they are."
