A petition called "Hate is NOT welcome" has been created to try and prevent the event from coming to Colorado Springs.

It has a goal of 1,000 signatures. The petition has only been active for two days and it already has over 500 signatures.

On its website, VDARE's mission is explained in part:

"America is real: America is not a melting pot, or a tossed salad or any other fashionable dietary metaphor that strips our nation of its rightful identity. We founded a country unique to history that has its own philosophies, values, social structure, attitudes, festivals, foods and aesthetic. strives to preserve and celebrate the distinctive culture of America."

The Southern Poverty Law Center says in its article on VDARE that the founder, Peter Brimelow with Center for American Unity is an anti-immigrant activist that has "served to promote the work of white supremacists, anti-Semites, and others on the radical right."

The article also states that VDARE publishes essays written by prominent academic racists.

One example is Jason Kessler. He was a major leader in the rally that took place in Charlottesville, Va. on August 12, 2017.

After a doing a search in's database, several articles were written by Kessler including "Yes, Virginia (Dare), There Is Such A Thing As White Genocide."
