Arrests made in Fountain carjacking in which woman was dragged

FOUNTAIN, Colo. - The Fountain Police Department says two men have been arrested in connection with a carjacking that happened on December 28. 

The crime happened at the Kum & Go convenience store in the 8000 block of Fountain Mesa Road at 5:05 p.m.

The victim told police that she was pumping gas when a man got in the driver's seat of her Kia Optima. The woman said she tried to fight the man and was drug a short distance as he drove off.

The stolen car was found two days later near the intersection of Hancock Expressway and Delta Drive in Colorado Springs.

On January 26, 2017, the arrests were made. Michael Angelo Martinez, 27, faces felony robbery and car theft charges. Juan Jose Herrera, 25, faces felony charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and aggravated motor vehicle theft.

The Fountain Police Department says the Colorado Springs Police Department played a critical role in identifying their suspects in this crime.
