COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police in Colorado Springs have caught two teenagers sought in a string of robberies, stolen vehicles, burglaries and an attempted murder dating back to June 28.
One of the suspects is identified as Marcus Antwan Elliott, 18. The other suspect, whose name isn't being released, is 16.
Police arrested the suspects around 3:30 p.m. Monday, using patrol officers as well as detectives in the robbery, tactical enforcement and metro vice narcotics units.
Police said the suspects typically used stolen vehicles to commit crimes in El Paso County, Monument and Denver, including an attempted murder from a road-rage incident in Colorado Springs.
The suspects were pursued several times by officers, police said, and demonstrated a reckless disregard for the community.
Police said the crime spree began after the suspects escaped from custody and that both have active arrest warrants for escape.
The investigation into the crime spree, involving numerous victims and crimes, continues, police said.
Police have released few specifics about the case, telling KRDO NewsChannel 13 that investigators must determine if other suspects are involved.
Monument police said one of the crimes was the armed robbery of a convenience store on Baptist Road last week.
As of late Tuesday, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and Denver police had no details about the parts of the crime spree occurring in their jurisdictions.
