Driver arrested in serious Colorado Springs crash

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police have charged a driver with vehicular assault, DUI, and reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury.

Officers say Zachary Brown, 30, rear-ended a silver Mercedes sedan on Highway 24 near 14th Street Sunday night. The crash sent the Mercedes off the road, knocking over two utility poles, and landing on its side.

The driver was pinned inside and had to be extricated by members of the Fire Department. He/she was sent to the hospital, where they are being treated for serious bodily injury.

Brown left the scene. He was found nearby intoxicated and was subsequently arrested. He was not hurt in the crash.
