KRDO BREAKDOWN: Top ballot issues in Teller County

Teller COUNTY, Colo. - November 7, 2017, is Election Day for most of the state of Colorado as well as the nation. KRDO NewsChannel 13 has broken down some of the top issues on the Teller County Ballot.

City of Cripple Creek 2A

-If 2A is approved, there would be an imposition of a 6% lodging tax per day, or lesser amount as the city council determines.The tax would be placed on any person or business that stays in any hotel room, motel room, guest house room, or any other similar commendations for consideration (on a noncomplimentary basis) for less than one month or 30 days consecutive days within the city of Cripple Creek. Taxes would be increased annually to an estimated amount of $600,000.00 in the first year and then whatever additional amounts are raised annually in each of the following years. Should the issue pass, the tax increase would start on January 1, 2018, and the proceeds of the tax would be spent by the city for economic and development, tourism, and marketing.
