Manhunt in Manitou ends after KRDO News team spots suspect

MANHUNT

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. -

A day-long manhunt is over after police arrest a man who ran from state troopers Thursday morning after fleeing a stolen car in Manitou Springs.

The ordeal began Thursday around 8:30 A.M. when Colorado State Patrol says it came across a parked car along a dirt pull off road near highway 24 in Manitou Springs.

"The occupant of that vehicle got out and ran up the hill to the south of Highway 24, and the trooper gave chase," said State Patrol SGT. Rick Hoffman.

The blue Nissan sedan the man left behind came up stolen out of Pueblo. Over the next several hours CSPD and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office led by State Patrol, searched the hills off Highway 24 with K-9 units trying to find the suspect.

Later in the afternoon, while filming a video segment for this news story a KRDO Newschannel 13 reporter and photographer witnessed the suspect police said they were looking for near the original scene.

Less than an hour after calling 911, Manitou Springs police confirmed the suspect's identity on the KRDO team's footage and El Paso County Sheriff's Office arrested the man near Highway 24 Eastbound in Manitou Springs.
