The police department is looking into its second shooting involving officers in less than a week. Police say they were chasing after a car theft suspect when shots were fired.

When police ran the plates of the car the suspect was driving, it was reported that the vehicle was in a carjacking out of Colorado Springs on February 25.

The suspect got out of the car near the Regency Shopping Center in Pueblo and engaged in a short foot pursuit with police. The suspect then shot rounds at officers, that's when officers fired back.

The suspect is in the hospital, we don't know their condition. We have a crew on the scene working to get more information.

The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Team has been activated and is on the scene.

Police are asking people to avoid the area.
