COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Thunderbirds are in Colorado Springs this week for the Air Force Academy graduation.
The ceremony will happen Wednesday morning, with the flyover expected around 12:30 p.m.
Watching the thunderbirds is an annual tradition for families in the Pikes Peak Region. Once again this year, law enforcement is warning drivers not to pull over on the side of I-25 to watch. It's dangerous, and it's against the law.
Luckily, there are plenty of safe spots near the Academy campus where you can get a good view of the show.
The prime place for viewing is just across I-25 from the Academy in the parking lots surrounding the InterQuest Marketplace -- the shopping center where Colorado Mountain Brewery and the Great Wolf Lodge are located. We're not suggesting you park there, but if you do, be sure to grab lunch or something. After all, you are taking up valuable parking space.
The Western Museum of Mining & Industry is actually inviting people to come and watch. The museum is located at 225 North Gate Boulevard, just east of I-25.
It's also important to make sure you don't accidentally find yourself on Air Force Academy grounds without realizing it.
