1 dead following multi-vehicle crash at N. Carefree, Marksheffel

COLRADO SPRINGS - Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash at N. Carefree and Marksheffel that happened on Monday afternoon. 

It has been confirmed that a man has died and another person was taken to the hospital. At least four people and three vehicles were involved. 

The crash happened at around 3:20 p.m.

According to CSP, a 2012 Altima pulled out of a stop sign and turned in front of a 2014 Ram. The two collided. Then, the Ram hit a nearby 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. 

Marcus Ramiro Cardo, 25, was the driver of the Altima and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the Pathfinder was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Everyone else involved walked away from the crash. 

Failure to yield right-of-way is being investigated as a contributing factor. 


The accident caused the intersection to be shut down for a couple of hours on Monday.
