CDOT warns of heavy traffic for New Years weekend

DENVER, Colo. - The Colorado Department of Transportation is warning drivers about heavy traffic across the state during the busy holiday weekend.

All CDOT construction projects will be suspended by noon Friday, Dec. 30 and will resume on Tuesday, Jan 3.

Traffic will be especially heavy around the Eisenhower/Johnson Memorial Tunnels as drivers head into the high country. The tunnels typically see about 30,000 vehicles a day but this weekend around 44,000 vehicles are expected.

CDOT is also reminding drivers that road conditions can change quickly this time of year. Travelers can check out traffic alerts HERE or by www.cotrip.org.
