28-yr-old dies in crash on Hwy 115 near Fort Carson

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - A fatal crash on Thursday morning shut down southbound Highway 115 near Turkey Creek Road in El Paso County for a few hours. 

A 28-year-old from Texas was driving a Nissan Altima and traveling south on 115 when he lost control and swerved into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a 1999 Kenworth. 

The 28-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. 

The driver of the semi was not injured.

Traffic was backed up for miles. Just before 3 p.m., the crash was cleared and traffic flow was getting back to normal.
