Two injured, suspect still at large following Colorado Springs shooting

WATCH Two injured suspect still at...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A man fired dozens of shots in Southeast Colorado Springs leaving multiple holes in six cars Thursday night at the Summit Creek Apartments.

Two people were injured with minor injuries and police are still searching for the suspect after he fled the scene near Chelton and Academy.

"I just heard like eight gunshots go off and we waited like five minutes and then the cops showed up and there were bullet holes everywhere in cars and stuff," Summit Creek Apartments resident Ezekiel Antelop said.

Dozens of pieces of shattered glass filled the parking lot of the apartment complex as car windows were shattered by gunshots.

"We have potentially dozens of rounds which were just fired in this complex," Sgt. Jim Jeffcoats with the Colorado Springs Police Department said.

Amidst the many shots fired, only two people suffered minor injuries.

"This is a highly populated complex and for us to only have two people with minor injuries, flying glass and that kind of thing, is potentially a miracle," Jeffcoats said.

Antelop grateful nothing worse happened despite how close the bullets were.

"They were shooting right in front of our house," Antelop said. "Thank God everybody's fine."

The only suspect description C.S.P.D. released is a man was seen throwing a rifle over a fence, and then hopped over it himself.
