UPDATE: Family Hit By Car While Trick or Treating

Couple Seriously Hurt, Daughter OK

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs couple is seriously hurt after being hit by a car while trick or treating with their daughter. They were pulling the 4-year-old girl in a wagon, and police said she had very minor injuries.

Police said the couple is Samuel and Kelly Kinkennon. They were crossing North Academy Boulevard at Parkmoor Village Drive at about 3:45 p.m. when the car crashed into them. Police on scene said it appeared the couple was following traffic laws, crossing at a crosswalk when they had a green light.

It's not clear yet if the driver of the car that hit them, 22-year-old Shynesia Harris, will be ticketed. Police said she may face careless driving charges.

A witness said the little girl looked fine after the crash.

"I saw a man being loaded in an ambulance, then I noticed a little girl standing on the corner in a Cinderella costume," said Laura Luna. "There were people gathered around her."

Police said the girl was picked up by her grandma and taken to the hospital to get checked out.
