Update: Homicide Arrest, Includes Statement From Victim's Mom

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police have arrested a man in connection to a homicide that occurred earlier in the week.

The arrest is tied to a body discovered near the Vanguard Academy on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as 20 year old Colorado Springs resident William Mickle.

The C.S.P.D. Homicide Unit arrested 19-year-old Springs resident Jordan Rowland in connection with the death.

An autopsy conducted Thursday confirmed that Mickle died as the result of several puncture wounds.

Police were called out to the area behind the Sienna Place apartments on Lenmar Dr early Wednesday, after passersby spotted Mickle's body laying in an open space area.

This is the 18th homicide in Colorado Springs this year. There were 16 in the city this time last year.

William Mickle's mother contacted KRDO Newschannel 13 tonight. She gave us the following statement:

"William was a loving person . He graduated from Harrison High School in 2008. He was always there for people. He would put them first. He lived in Colorado Springs since 1998. I found out about him at 8:40 p.m. on Wedesday Night. I will miss him. He was a very special young man to me. The service will be held Monday at Shrine of Remembrance at 1730 E. Fountain Blvd Colorado Springs , Colorado 80910. It will be open to the public for those who want to attend. Memorial starts at 2:00 p.m."
