A man who broke into an evacuated house during the 2012 Waldo Canyon Fire has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison.

Police say DNA evidence linked Graylon Thomas to the crime.

Thomas was sentenced to 16 years in prison followed by five years mandatory parole.

The investigation that led to Thomas began on June 29, 2012 when police officers patrolling an evacuated neighborhood found a vehicle that had been stolen from a home on Raven Hills Court.

The vehicle was filled with property that was stolen from the home. Police say the house was ransacked. All of the stolen items were found in the vehicle and returned to their owners.
