A Widefield High School teacher will face a jury after pleading not guilty to sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
Lee Edward Riddle, 29, was arrested Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He entered the not guilty plea on Monday, February 10, 2014.
The investigation into Riddle began Friday (11/15/13) when the El Paso County Sheriff's Office received information about a possible sexual assault involving Riddle that happened at the school.
An arrest affidavit obtained by KRDO NewsChannel 13 in January, 2014 alleges Riddle grabbed the privates of male students during class, saying it was a game. The arrest papers also say Riddle sent inappropriate texts and asked students sexual questions.
Widefield School District 3 says Riddle taught German and sponsored a club volleyball team at the school last year but not this school year. Riddle first began working at Widefield in 2009.
Riddle will be back in court for a hearing on April 28. His trial is scheduled to begin on May 20. He is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of his trial.
