JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. -

A wildfire was burning on the east face of Long Scraggy Peak in Jefferson County Monday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says pre-evacuation order notifications were sent to 119 phones in Jefferson and Douglas counties. Residents within a 4-mile radius of Long Scraggy Peak are being told to stay alert, and be ready to leave at a moments notice.

The fire is burning on forest service land. Firefighters from the forest service and the North Fork Fire Department are fighting the flames. Two helicopters been dropping water on the fire. Rocks above the fire could help slow its spread.

The fire is currently estimated to be 2 acres. No buildings are immediately threatened.
