Today marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I, when Austria-Hungary invaded Serbia following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The battle would last a bloody four years and cost more than 37 million civilian and military lives in one of the deadliest conflicts in human history.
