Indianapolis Colts starting wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was officially ruled out for Saturday's playoff game against the New England Patriots because of a hamstring injury.
He sat out all three days of practice this week with the injury, which he suffered in last weekend's victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Heyward-Bey caught 29 passes for 309 yards and one touchdown in 2013, his first season with Indianapolis. He did not have any receptions in the playoff victory over Kansas City.
The Colts signed former Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch earlier this week, probably because they suspected Heyward-Bey would not be able to play.
The Colts other wide receivers are T.Y. Hilton, LaVon Brazill, Da'Rick Rogers, Griff Whalen and Josh Lenz.
Colts starting free safety LaRon Landry (concussion) and starting nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin (rest) both practiced on Friday and are expected to play against the Patriots.
