Florida A&M 16, Norfolk State 6: Damien Fleming recorded 140 total yards and ran for a score to lead the Rattlers to a road win over the Spartans in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.
Fleming rushed 10 times for 74 yards and was 6-of-16 for 66 yards passing for Florida A&M (3-6, 2-3 MEAC). James Owens led the Rattlers with 89 yards and a touchdown on the ground, helping them overcome 11 penalties and two turnovers in the game.
Rolandan Finch rushed for 151 yards to pace Norfolk State (2-7, 2-3). The Spartans struggled to establish a passing game, with three quarterbacks combining to complete just 5-of-17 passes for 66 yards and two interceptions.
The Rattlers took the lead just under two minutes into the second quarter on Fleming's 27-yard touchdown scamper. Florida A&M then earned a safety on a botched punt attempt to take a 9-0 lead into halftime.
The Spartans pulled within three early in the third quarter when Fleming was sacked by Lynden Trail and fumbled, with Trail recovering in the end zone for a touchdown. But Norfolk State would get no closer, and Owens scored the clinching touchdown on an 8-yard run with only 1:11 remaining in the game.
