Free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins is likely to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported.
Schefter reported Tuesday morning that sources told him that the other teams competing for the former Washington Redskins signal-caller don't feel they have a realistic shot at signing him.
Cousins is expected to sign a three-year, $84 million deal that would make him the highest-paid quarterback in the league, according to Schefter's sources.
However, Cousins' agent Mike McCartney cautioned that no final decisions had been made yet and the 29-year-old free agent has plans to visit Minnesota before signing a deal.
Cousins passed for 4,093 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions last season for Washington.
Unable to reach a long-term deal with the Redskins, he played under the franchise tag the past two seasons.
It became clear his time with Washington had come to a close when the team traded for Alex Smith on Jan. 30 and then agreed to a four-year extension with the former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback.
