Team USA Basketball officials announced on Tuesday that Washington Wizards guards John Wall and Bradley Beal and Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap have been released from the team.
USA Basketball has scheduled a Tuesday 2 p.m. ET teleconference so chairman Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski can discuss the roster moves.
The removal of those three players reduces the roster to 16 players. Four more cuts will need to be made to get down to the 12-man FIBA World Cup team.
Only five remaining players are considered locks to make the team, according to an ESPN.com report: Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Houston's James Harden, New Orleans' Anthony Davis, Chicago's Derrick Rose and Golden State's Stephen Curry.
The 11 players vying for the final seven slots are guards Kyrie Irving of Cleveland, Damian Lillard of Portland, Kyle Korver of Atlanta, DeMar DeRozan of Toronto and Klay Thompson of Golden State; forwards Chandler Parsons of Dallas, Kenneth Faried of Denver, and Gordon Hayward of Denver, and centers DeMarcus Cousins of Sacramento, Andre Drummond of Detroit and Mason Plumlee of Brooklyn.
