Start slow: If biking is new to you, start slow before making a long ride to work. You can get in shape by doing shorter rides around your house. Once you’re ready to make it all the way to work, start by biking one way and arranging for a ride to take you home from work.
Test your route: Finding a route can sometimes be the hardest part of biking to work. Test your route on a weekend or a day when you don’t work to see how long the ride takes and if you feel safe. If the route has too much traffic you might need to adjust it.
Take a day off: As you get started, try to give yourself a break by not biking to work every day. This will allow your body to rest.
