There will exist a slight threat for severe thunderstorms in the yellow shaded areas this afternoon and evening. The threat for severe thunderstorms looks best where you see orange shading on the map. The strongest thunderstorms today could produce hail between 1" and 2" in diameter and damaging wind gusts to near 70 mph. The environment is not terribly favorable for tornadoes today, but this time of year severe thunderstorms can and do produce tornadoes on occasion as happened north of La Junta yesterday.
