East Peak and West Fork Fire Forecast - Saturday

POSTED: 09:29 AM MDT Jun 22, 2013

Dry desert air and wind make fore another difficult day of fire fighting.

1 / 3

The large scale flow is from the southwest and will push the northeast and eastern parts of the fire to the northeast today. This area doesn't have as much fuel as a couple days can see that on google earth that it isn't as green, meaning the trees are less dense and there is some juniper in there too. Notice how the large scale wind ends up curving around the East Spanish Peak and ends up producing a northwest wind on the southeast flank of the fire...this area is still heavily treed and should spread to the southeast today and will likely be the most active part of the fire. Wind speeds may gust between 20 and 35mph through the afternoon.
