Smoke from Fort Carson fire reduces visibility on I-25

FORT CARSON, Colo. - Smoke from a training range fire on Fort Carson was visible south of Colorado Springs Thursday.

The fire was initially estimated at 40 acres, but it has likely grown thanks to strong winds.

Drivers who travel on I-25 between Colorado Springs and Pueblo reported thick smoke reduced visibility on the interstate downwind of the fire.

Firefighters from Fort Carson, Cheyenne Mountain Air Station and the El Paso County Fire Department are on scene.

No buildings are threatened.
