Fire scorches 3 acres on Springs' west side

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A grass fire produced a large amount of smoke on the west side of Colorado Springs Wednesday.

The 3-acre fire flared up near the intersection of W. Uintah Street and N. 17th Street. 

Nearby Manitou Boulevard was closed because of the fire.
 
CSFD & CSU resources have been working together to keep the fire from growing and threatening nearby structures.

As of 3:45 p.m., the fire is primarily contained and crews are working on mop up.
