COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UPDATE: Colorado Springs police identified the man killed in a wreck that shut down Academy and Woodmen late Monday night.
Police say Benjamin Curley, 32, was driving west on Woodmen when he ran a red light and struck a pickup truck that was turning left onto Academy. Police said excessive speed was also a factor.
Curley was killed in the crash and two people in the pickup truck were injured and taken to the hospital.
The crash is still under investigation, but police say no charges are expected. CSPD said Curley's death marked the 37th traffic fatality in the Springs so far this year -- at this point last year, there were 27 traffic fatalities.
Police confirm a fatal accident is responsible for shutting down the westbound lane over Academy and Woodmen in Colorado Springs around 10 p.m. Monday.
The accident appeared to have involved a white Dodge truck and another vehicle that was not identified. We're told one man died at the scene.
Two people were taken to Penrose St. Francis Medical Center, but police say their injuries are non-life threatening.
CSPD says if you have any information or were a witness to this crash to give them a call.
