Colorado Springs' new baseball team: the Rocky Mountain Vibes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Out with the Sky Sox, in with the Rocky Mountain Vibes.

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox will now be known as the Vibes, which seems to be based on a campfire theme. The logo features a pretty chill-looking s'more, which isn't too strange because s'mores are supposed to make people happy and often accompany good vibes.

The team organized a contest this summer to collect name suggestions, and five finalists were selected from more than 2,000 entries -- including the most infamous finalist: the Rocky Mountain Oysters.

But Vibes wasn't one of those finalists. We're not sure where it came from, but it beat out the Happy Campers, the Lamb Chops, the Punchy Pikas, the Throttle Jockeys, and of course, the Oysters.

The town seemed pretty much split on the joke aspect of the Oysters (which, for the uninitiated, is a delicacy of fried cattle testicles), and we'll guess that much of the anticipation ahead of Monday's announcement was waiting to see if we would be represented by fried genitals.

Colorado Springs is getting the Rookie-Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2019 season after the Triple-A Sky Sox moved to San Antonio.

The season will begin Friday, June 21.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
