In the fourth week of the government shutdown, signs point to more impacts in the economy

WATCH Partial government shutdown...

In the fourth week of the partial government shutdown, federal employees continue to feel the impact of not receiving their paychecks.

It's not just federal workers though, as the shutdown drags on it's starting to affect the entire economy. The White House is now estimating the GDP takes a .13 hit each week the government is shut down.

While that doesn't sound like much, Tatiana Bailey, the director of UCCS' Economic Forum says it adds up over the four weeks of the shutdown and the possible days or even weeks to come.

"If we can't get to a resolution sooner or later, everyone is going to be so alarmed - investors, individuals, consumers, they're going to say, "Why is the economy contracting so much?' So the shutdown is definitely not helping," Bailey said.

Bailey added on the plus side, unemployment is low, but even toward the end of 2018 signs were already pointing to a slow down.
