No more Kmarts in southern Colorado: Pueblo store set to close

PUEBLO, Colo. - Blue Light Specials are soon to be a thing of the past in southern Colorado: Sears Holdings announced that Pueblo's Kmart store will be closing before the end of the year.

An official confirmed to KRDO Tuesday that the Kmart on N. Elizabeth Street will close by mid-December. Liquidation sales are expected to begin in mid-September.

The once-giant department store chain has been dwindling down for years, and the Pueblo store's closure will leave just one Kmart in all of Colorado, which is in Loveland. Colorado Springs' last Kmart shut down in early 2018.

A representative said it was a "difficult but necessary" decision to close the store.
