Pueblo schoolchildren host supplies drive for Hurricane Dorian survivors

Pueblo elementary school hosts supplies drive for Dorian

PUEBLO, Colo. - Students in Pueblo West at a local charter academy are banding together to help the victims of Hurricane Dorian by hosting a school wide supplies drive.

Students in Ms. Carochi's fourth grade class at Swallows Charter Academy have been tracking the devastation the hurricane has caused.

"I think it's really cool," says fourth grader Sofia Kramer. "Because people that survived the hurricane, that we get to, that we have a way to help them."

Another member Ms. Carochi's class, Lily Whitaker, says it's important to her that survivors have access to necessities.

"To me I think it's really important because everyone should have the stuff that they need," she says. They should have what they need and even more."

Organizers say that the class that bring in the most items during the drive will be awarded a pizza party. Supplies will be collected until Thursday.
