PUEBLO, Colo. - Two police officers were involved in a shooting in Pueblo Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Lamar Ave. around 4:25 a.m. for a shots fired call. When they arrived they found 34-year old Michael Francisco armed with a weapon.
Francisco was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The two officers involved in the shooting were not injured.
The neighbor who called police told KRDO she heard shouting from inside the home and a single shot fired. She would not release her name out of fear of retaliation.
After police arrived on the scene she then heard multiple gunshots but it was unclear of who was doing the shooting. Afterward, she saw police enter the property behind a shield.
The landlord of the property where the shooting occurred told KRDO, Francisco was the boyfriend of the tenant living there.
Erik Segall, the next door neighbor, says he also heard shots, but the sound he won’t forget were the screams coming from Francisco.
“You could hear him. He was screaming out in pain. He got shot in the leg or the knee I think," Segall said. "He said 'he blew my knee out' I think, and he was throwing up he was retching it was awful.”
This is the sixth officer-involved shooting in Pueblo this year.
This is a developing story. Stay with KRDO for updates.
