Rabid bat found at Rainbow Falls in Manitou Springs

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. - Keep an eye out for any bats if you're planning a quick trip to Rainbow Falls, the El Paso County Public Health Department announced Thursday that a bat found at the popular waterfall recently tested positive for rabies.

The county didn't say exactly when the bat was found, but it's the 12th animal to test positive for rabies so far this year in El Paso County.

Officials encouraged any people who visited Rainbow Falls from Aug. 7 to Aug. 12 should contact Public Health at 719-578-3220.

Rainbow Falls is located on the west side of Manitou Springs and is open Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
