The CSPD K-9 Unit remembers K-9 Remme as he's transported back to his handler

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Police K-9 Unit took to their Facebook Thursday to let the public know K-9 Officer Remme's remains made its way home to his handler this week.

Remme is the five-year-old Belgian Malinois K-9 officer who lost his life on July 16, 2018. He was loved by many and served with the Colorado Springs Police Department for three-and-a-half years.

An acute medical issue cut Remme's mission short, regardless of the veterinary staff efforts. At the moment, we don't have the details on the call K-9 Officer Remme and his handler responded to.

The Colorado Springs Police K-9 Unit included several photos of Remme's return home with the caption, "Welcome home buddy and rest easy. E.O.W. 7/13/18."
