Colorado ranks second for most pet-friendly state

Colorado ranked second when it came to most pet-friendly states in 2019, according to a new study conducted by Safewise.

The ranking looked at anti-abuse laws, veterinarians and no-kill shelters in each state. Along with pet-friendly restaurants, hotels and activities for pets. 

Oregon managed to take the number one spot because of the state's advanced animal laws.

It was noted that Colorado is a pet's paradise with miles of scenic hiking trails. Colorado is home to 74 no-kill shelters and 2,150 veterinarians. The Centennial State also has some of the best animal protection laws.

According to the study, the top 5 most pet-friendly states are:

  1. Oregon
  2. Colorado 
  3. Maine
  4. California
  5. Washington
