Timeline of Douglas County shooting

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - On the last day of 2017, 37-year-old Matthew Riehl lead an "ambush-style" attack on three Douglas County deputies, one Castle Rock police officer and two civilians.

Riehl fired more than 100-rounds when the officers arrived to a domestic disturbance call. Reihl killed Douglas County Deputy, Zackari Parrish, 29.

Below is the timeline events that have taken place.

December 13, 2017

A YouTube user identified as Matthew Riehl posted a YouTube video calling for the firing of Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock and railing against him in highly personal terms. Riehl wears an Iraq combat veteran hat in the post. 

December 31, 2017:

3:00 a.m.

KMGH reports Douglas County dispatch received a call reporting a verbal disturbance at the Copper Canyon apartments in Highlands Ranch

3:44 a.m.

KMGH say deputies left the apartment when they could find no evidence of any crimes being committed.

5:14 a.m.

Douglas County deputies go back to Copper Canyon Apartments at 3404 E County Line Rd.on the report of a domestic disturbance.

Riehl opened fire and fires over 100 rounds with a rifle after barricading himself inside his bedroom, hitting Zackari Parrish, Michael Doyle, Taylor Davis and Jeffrey Pelle.

Officer Parrish stops responding to radio calls.

5:43 a.m.

The Douglas County Sheriff  (DSC) tweet about an officer down call. 

5:51 a.m.

DCS tweet about media staging.

6:01 a.m. 

DCS tweet road closures due to an officer down. 

6:05 a.m.

DCS tweet that the media staging has been moved.

6:15 a.m.

A Code Red is sent out regarding the incident. Citizens in the affected area are instructed to take shelter, avoid windows and stay away from exterior walls.

6:40 a.m.

DCS tweets of multiple deputies down.

6:57 a.m.

Douglas County, Parker Police Department, Lone Tree Police Department, Castle Rock Police Department and Colorado State Patrol are on accident alert.

7:30 a.m.

KMGH reports, SWAT entered the apartment and exchanged fire with Reihl.

Officer Thomas O'Donnell was shot. The suspect was killed.

8:00 a.m.

An emergency shelter is set up at East Ridge Rec Center, at 9568 University Boulevard in Highlands Ranch.

Officers say anyone who has been displaced should go to there.

8:32 a.m. 

DCS tweets one deputy is deceased. Adding four other officers and civilians are injured.

They confirm the suspect is shot and believed to be dead and no longer a threat to the public.

9:02 a.m.

An announcement for the procession for Parrish is made. The procession will start at Littleton Hospital.

10:36 a.m.

President Trump tweets his condolences to victims of the shooting in Douglas County.

12:00 p.m.

DCS holds a press conference where they release the names of the officers involved. 

12:30 p.m.

A fallen officer fund is set up for all of the deputies involved in the shooting.

5:00 p.m.

Douglas County Coroner confirms the shooting suspect as Matthew Riehl.

January 1, 2018: 5:00 p.m.

Candlelight vigil at Mission Hills Church in Littleton to honor Deputy Parrish.

January 5, 2018: 10:00 a.m.

Memorial service for Deputy Parrish is being held at Cherry Hills Community Church- the public is invited to attend.
