Trailer hitch flies through windshield on I-25, nearly hits child

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A woman traveling on Interstate 25 had an extremely close call with a trailer hitch that fell off a pickup truck and flew through her windshield Thursday in Colorado Springs.

Tristen Ramos sent KRDO photos of her car windshield with a hole smashed in it; a trailer hitch is seen in another picture in the backseat, right next to her child's car seat.

She said the hitch fell off of a white Ford F-250, and it happened near the Fillmore Street exit at about 1 p.m. Now, Ramos is trying to track down the driver of the F-250.

Ramos said she normally puts her child's car seat in the middle seat, but she didn't on Thursday.
